Once again, this former celebrity couple has proven they really do get along. Gwyneth Paltrow celebrated Chris Martin’s birthday with a sweet Instagram that she shared on Sunday. Next to a selfie of the two, she wrote, “Happy Birthday CAJM. This is a special one. We love you so much. #42.” For those unaware, “CAJM” stand for the Coldplay singer’s full name — Chris Anthony John Martin.
It’s really no surprise that Paltrow took to social media to honor her ex-husband’s special day (and two days after wishing her current husband, Brad Falchuck, happy birthday on Instagram). Ever since Martin and Paltrow announced their split in 2014, or as they famously called it “conscious uncoupling,” they’ve continuously made it clear that they are still friends, despite breaking up after 10 years of marriage.

For example, in an interview with the Evening Standard published in January, the Oscar-winning actress said about her current relationship with Martin, the father of their two children, “I think we’ve managed to really stay a family. Chris is a very close friend. I see him every day, I talk to him every day. And it was very difficult, but I think you see in the children that they got through it, so I am proud of us, I really am. We kept to our commitment that we would put the children first.”
They’ve remained so close in fact that Martin was even invited on Paltrow’s honeymoon with Falchuk, whom she married last September. During a January appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan, the Goop founder revealed the lead singer of Coldplay even accepted the invitation. According to Paltrow, their marriage celebration was a “big family honeymoon” and “very modern,” as both Patlrow and Falchuk’s children from their previous relationships came along, in addition to the couple’s “best family friends.”

There’s no denying Martin and Paltrow have a modern relationship that certainly differs from many other individuals who are divorced. They should absolutely be applauded for being able to maintain a genuinely happy friendship, especially for the sake of their kids, Apple and Moses.
They’ve set a great example for their daughter and son when it comes to what a civil and healthy relationship looks like post-divorce. Plus, it’s just truly wonderful Apple and Moses can celebrate their dad’s birthday right alongside their mom.
