Welcome back, Pauley Perrette! It was confirmed on Wednesday that the NCIS alum will be returning to TV in the new CBS comedy Broke. It’s been a minute since Perrette was on TV, so the news that she’ll be coming back to her home network of CBS and, even better, will be boarding a show that is super different from NCIS has us all kinds of excited.
According to Deadline’s report, Perrette will be costarring on Broke (slated to start this fall) with Jane the Virgin alum Jaime Camil. Camil will be playing “an outrageously wealthy trust fund baby who is cut off by his father so he and his wife move into the Reseda condo of her estranged sister, Jackie.” Perrette will be stepping into the role of Jackie and the very funny character description sounds like a nice change from Perrette’s NCIS character: “Jackie is a tough, sharp-witted, loving but struggling single mom with a 9-year-old son. The manager of a bar, Jackie is feisty, not easily cowed, sometimes hot-headed, the kind of woman who knows her way around a tool box and an acetylene torch. She’s not thrilled when her snobby rich sister and husband suddenly show up on her doorstep, but she comes to remember how much she loves her sister and learns to appreciate them both in her life.”
Perrette bid farewell to her role as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on NCIS in 2018 after an impressive 15-season run on the crime drama. Perrette was wildly popular with NCIS fans, and her final episode last spring garnered a massive amount of viewers. She announced her departure from the show in a tweet.
“I believe in God and the universe so firmly,” Perrette told TV Guide Magazine as she was preparing to leave NCIS. “After a lot of thought, I decided to announce it myself on Twitter because I didn’t want it to be turned into anything ‘shocking.’ Abby leaving is more than a cheap TV ploy.”
Perrette and Camil both seem thrilled with the new project — and the prospect of working together — if their tweets are any indication:
Brother, @jaimecamil I went with the nicest most decent people in Hollywood. YOU and the team! https://t.co/YynlkCHUMZ

Before exiting NCIS, Perrette hinted that she would be returning to her comic roots. She told TV Insider, “I came from comedy, I came from sitcoms. I’ve been on NCIS so long people forget that I’ve been on a 100 billion different TV shows. […] I love to make people laugh.”
We’re glad Perrette’s returning to her roots and knowing that it’s gonna be on Broke only makes this news better.
