Game of Thrones Star Sophie Turner Explains How She Knew Joe Jonas Was ‘The One’

This Game of Thrones star feels so much love for the people closest to her. In a new interview with Glamour magazine, Sophie Turner opened up about her fiancé, Joe Jonas, and her costar-turned-best friend Maisie Williams, as well as how her love for herself has grown and changed through her relationships. From the sounds of it, Turner is learning how to navigate adulthood with the help of some very important people by her side, which makes it easier for her to tackle the big stuff.

“I think for the longest time I didn’t have a real sense of myself,” Turner told Glamour. “I had a bit of an identity crisis where I was playing all these people and I’d grown up faster than I probably should have done. I hadn’t been able to experience university, or just spend a lot of time with friends, so for a while, I kept thinking, ‘Who am I?'”

“A lot of [my happiness now] is to do with being with a person I’ve fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness,” Turner continued, gushing about Jonas and their relationship. “That was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am — and find my happiness in things other than acting.”

Turner shares the cover of Glamour magazine with Williams, whom she met when the pair first auditioned for Game of Thrones. At the time, Williams was 12 years old and Turner was 13; a decade later, according to Williams, “We’ve always been really open with each other. As you get older, the stakes are higher, the problems get worse — so it’s built into a lifelong friendship. Sophie knows too much about me to not be my friend.”

Although Turner and Jonas are engaged, that hasn’t diminished her love for Williams at all. The pair have matching tattoos that read “07.08.09” tattoos, marking the day they were both cast in Game of Thrones. Turner also joked about their relationship status: “People always think Maisie and I are a couple. I mean, I am obsessed with her, so you never know. She’s my drug. I’ve got an addiction to Maisie Williams. I actually stalk her hashtag on Instagram!”

Filming for Game of Thrones has ended, with the eighth and final season premiering in April. Just because Turner and Williams no longer work together, however, that doesn’t mean they won’t stay close. Honestly, we look forward to photos of them from Turner and Jonas’s wedding, whenever that may be.
