After The Bachelorwrapped with its stunning finale on Tuesday night, it was revealed that The Bachelor‘s Hannah Brown will be the next Bachelorette — and Bachelor Nation had some real mixed reactions about it. Brown, known as Hannah B. on The Bachelor, was most recently seen competing for Colton Underwood’s heart and gained more notoriety for her feud with fellow contestant Caelynn Miller-Keyes than how far she got in the competition. Brown definitely made an impression during her time on the show and now, she will become the 15th Bachelorette to look for love on the show.
“I feel all the emotions,” Brown said on Monday’s TheBachelor finale, later reported on by ABC News. She added that she’s “very grateful” for the chance to pick and choose her own Bachelor and reflecting on her new gig: “It didn’t happen for me with my first time around. But I do believe that it can happen, and I’m just really just so grateful and honored that people saw my heart and that I get to continue showing that and that somebody will hopefully share their heart with me.”
Brown was in the running on this past season of The Bachelor, but Colton Underwood sent her packing during week seven. The University of Alabama grad hails from Tuscaloosa, has a 2018 Miss Alabama USA title and works as an interior designer. On the show, the other women nicknamed her “Alabama Hannah.”
Was she bummed about being dumped during week seven? You betcha.
“Ultimately, I was very shocked when I went home just because I didn’t understand why I got to get to that part of your life if you didn’t have those feelings for me,” she said to Underwood during the “Women Tell All” episode of the mega-popular series. She continued, “I don’t understand it, and it made me mad. But I think that you had every right to do this the way that you feel was necessary.”
After Brown was revealed as the next Bachelorette, fans quickly hopped onto Twitter to share their feelings. Naturally, some were delighted:
hannah b: "i will not allow myself to not feel chosen every single day and i'll wait til whenever that is."

The former pageant queen leapt right into her Bachelorette duties, meeting a few of her new suitors during the live Bachelor finale. Chris Harrison helped trot five new suitors in quick succession. Brown seemed more stunned than “absolutely stunning,” the compliment immediately delivered by her first suitor, Luke. He added to his early pitch, “I cannot wait to get to know you on a deeper level.” Mmm-hmm.
Another suitor was Dustin, who came onstage with champagne glasses, referencing Brown’s miserable failure of a toast with Underwood.
“I know sometimes nerves can get in the way of a toast and you just gotta go through it,” Dustin told Brown. “Cheers to the start of a wonderful beginning, an amazing journey and for us to get to know each other.”
Brown laughed, saying, “[That was] much better than mine!” in reference to her now-infamous toast from the season premiere of The Bachelor. And speaking of awkwardness, when it came to the negative responses to Brown becoming the new Bachelorette, fans found her awkwardness on the finale, well… cringy.
If tonight is any indication of how the next season of #TheBachelorette is going to go well then crap. Watching Hannah B is awkward & painful.

The preview of Brown as the Bachelorette was certainly interesting and admittedly, we’re curious to see how she does during her season. And speaking of her season, make sure to tune in to The Bachelorette when it premieres on May 13 on ABC.
