Alicia Keys Is Writing a Memoir & Oprah Winfrey Is Involved

Make room on your bookshelf for this celebrity memoir. On Wednesday, Alicia Keys revealed that she is writing her first book, titled More Myself, which she billed as “part autobiography, and part narrative documentary.” The book is set to be published by Oprah Winfrey via her Flatiron Books imprint, An Oprah Book, on Nov. 5.

“I couldn’t be more ecstatic to share this part of my journey so far and all the ways I am continuously learning to honor my truth.” Keys said in a statement, per People. “Alongside my sister, mentor, and friend Oprah, this book is one of the most exciting chapters yet.”

Winfrey also expressed her excitement in a statement. “I could feel the power of Alicia’s presence even before she belted out the first soulful notes of the lyrics that made her famous — ‘I keep on fallin’ in and out of love with you,’” she said in the More Myself press release. “I knew she had all those sparkling qualities that make stars shine. More important, Alicia has navigated the spotlight and pressures of fame while retaining a humble and beautiful spirit. I am honored she chose to share her personal story through my imprint.”

According to People, More Myself will explore Keys’ New York City childhood, her music career and her ongoing journey of self-discovery. The book will feature recollections from Keys herself, as well as recollections from those closest to her. We imagine her husband, Swizz Beatz, will have a part in the book, though we won’t know for sure until it’s released this fall.

This is big news for Keys, who is a 15-time Grammy Award winner and an unmistakable voice in the music industry. It’s also big news for An Oprah Book. According to parent publisher Flatiron Books, Keys’ memoir is the first release under Winfrey’s imprint.

More Myself is now available for pre-order.
