As one epic adventure comes to a close in Kit Harington‘s life, he’s already talking about the next one he’s ready to take. In a recent interview, Harington revealed he’s ready to be a dad and start a family with his wife, fellow Game of Thrones alum Rose Leslie. Harington didn’t go into too much detail about his and Leslie’s full parenting plan, but what he did share already has us excited for the Papa Harington era.
Speaking with InStyle magazine, Harington’s latest comments on being a dad were part of a larger reflection on the endings and beginnings happening in his life right now.
“The most important job I’ll ever have is about to finish,” Harington noted, referring to his decade-long run on GoT, before catching himself and adding, “Well, not the most. Hopefully, I’ll be a father.”
Even though Harington’s comments are mostly an afterthought within the interview, we think it speaks volumes about what he’s ready to do now that the end of GoT is finally here. We definitely think he’s earned the right to some rest and relaxation with Leslie, but we’re also low-key hoping he doesn’t rest for too long because we’re ready to see what Harington is like in full-on dad mode, with the diaper bag slung over his shoulder as he pushes a stroller.
We get why Harington is ready to become a dad. He wasn’t lying when the most important job he’s ever had is coming to an end because GoT not only launched his career, but he met his future wife on the show, too. But now, that job is done and the timing might be right for Harington and Leslie, who got married in 2018 after rumors of a relationship began in 2012 with the couple confirmed they were an item in 2016. So much has happened to Harington in the last decade; why not keep the momentum going with the arrival of a few (probably super adorable) kids?
Plus, teaming up on the parenting front might be the only time Harington works with Leslie ever again. As he told InStyle, “I think almost the worst thing about falling in love with Rose and marrying her is that it’s going to be very hard to work with her again. Working opposite her was one of the highlights of my life and career. I don’t know when, if ever, I’m going to get to do that again, because we’re married now, and it’s hard to work opposite your wife.”
See? He and Leslie basically have to become parents now because if the chances of us seeing them recreate their Jon Snow-Ygritte chemistry onscreen are slim-to-none, then we at least deserve to cheer them on as they embark, together, on the wonderful adventure of parenting.
