Harry & Kate Do Damage Control in Extra Smiley Appearance Amid Feud Rumors

Keeping track of royal feuds is a full-time job: and for the royals involved, an exhausting one. For the past few months, rumors have been flying of a feud between some combination of Prince Harry, Prince William, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. But, perhaps to quash said rumors, Prince Harry and Kate stepped out together at an event on Thursday, where the pair appeared quite friendly.

So, what’s this rumored feud all about? Apparently, William allegedly expressed some brotherly concern when Harry started getting close to Meghan — and Harry didn’t take it well at all. Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Cosmopolitan that Harry “felt that his brother wasn’t behind him,” and this yielded “quite a bit of tension between them.” From there, every action taken by these royals has been construed as an escalation of the feud.

When Harry and Meghan decided to move from Kensington Palace before the birth of their child, it was spun as Harry feeling “very imprisoned,” and telling everyone he couldn’t “wait to get out.” Next, a rumor flew that Harry and Meghan were being “exiled” to live in Africa for a few years following the birth. And most recently, the fact that Harry and William walked separately into an Easter service was taken as confirmation that their “frosty” relationship lived on.

Seemingly in opposition to these rumors, Harry joined Kate at the annual Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey on Thursday. A source reported to People that Harry’s name wasn’t on the program since, “with their baby due,” he wasn’t sure he’d be able to attend. Prince William is currently in New Zealand, and was not in attendance. But Harry and Kate seemed to be doing their best to quash any rumors of tension between the royal couples, smiling broadly and walking into the service together.

Of course, all these feud rumors can’t be taken separately from the fact that the media loves to paint Meghan as a constant source of drama. The media’s claim that she’s driven a wedge between the two princes is only the latest in a series of attacks, and there is little to no concrete evidence that such a feud even exists. These royals are under such an intense microscope that even a momentary spat between the two brothers could have been spun out of proportion. But for now, we’re happy to see that Kate and Harry are still getting along. And hopefully, the upcoming birth of Baby Sussex will smooth any remaining tensions.
