Is Meghan Markle in Labor? Ambulance Spotted Outside Prince Harry & Meghan’s Home

The royal baby watch has been in effect since (checks watch) Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry first announced they were expecting back in October of 2018. But as Meghan’s April due date draws closer and closer, there’s been a frenzied interest in all things Baby Sussex. Which is why British media went into a tailspin when an ambulance was spotted outside Frogmore Cottage, Meghan and Harry’s new home in Windsor, leading to speculation that the duchess may be in labor.

UK outlet Express was first to report the ambulance sighting, writing that a “crew of three medics was seen parked up in Windsor Farm shop on the boundary of the estate…and a helicopter was also seen in the skies above the couple’s cottage.” With rumors that the duke and duchess will opt for a home birth led to assumptions that the emergency personnel were there for Meghan.

But that was all quashed when CNN’s London bureau editor, David Wilkinson, told everyone to cool it, the baby hasn’t made its grand entrance yet. “Royal baby silly season has officially begun. Nonsense clickbait headline from the Express. Ambulance pulls in almost a mile away from Frogmore Cottage at a farm shop…”

Reports of Meghan possibly being in labor have been bubbling up the moment Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, touched down in London earlier this week. But they might not be far off. Per Inside Edition, ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship the birth is “imminent”: “We know the baby is due, in fact I can tell you that the due date is pretty much today,” Ship told “Good Morning Britain.” “Today, tomorrow, we really are in the realms of imminent arrival.

He added: “Has it happened overnight? Well, put it this way, we haven’t been told that it’s happened overnight, but it’s definitely any day now.”

With this kind of intense media scrutiny, it’s no wonder Meghan and Harry have opted for a privacy plan that eschews the traditional birth plan and photocall on the steps of the Lindo Wing outside St. Mary’s Hospital mere hours after giving birth. If the sight of an ambulance a mile away from their home leads to this kind of media hysteria, it’s no wonder the expectant parents are looking to make this special time as private as possible.
