When two power couples become close friends, it’s almost too much to take in, like staring at the sun — especially when it’s Chip and Joanna Gaines double-dating with Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. So, put on your shades, because there’s photographic evidence showing the foursome (well, more like a dozen if you include J.Lo’s abs) hanging out in the Gaines’ hometown of Waco, Texas, over the weekend.
On Saturday, A-Rod shared a snapshot of himself and his future bride alongside Waco’s most famous residents. “ARod Corp hits Capital Gaines in Waco, Texas,” Rodriguez captioned the photo of the four smiling on a grassy lawn with their arms around one another. A-Rod also shared a sweet Instagram Story photo of the couple snuggling on a porch swing, captioning it, “Saturdays in Waco.” That photo was tagged and taken at the Gaines’ iconic Magnolia Market.
Chip, a man of many words and often comically not the right ones, actually hit the nail on the head with his description of the double date. The former Fixer Upper host shared a similar photo on his Insta feed, writing, “What is going on!?? This is like a Twilight zone of hot people. Then there’s me, looking as usual… disheveled. Thanks for coming to town @jlo and @arod!”

From what we can tell, the mini-vacay seems to be an extension a special gift A-Rod gave J.Lo earlier this year: a FaceTime with Joanna. In the comment section of A-Rod’s photo of the foursome, J.Lo gushed, “Best anniversary gift ever!!”
Accordingly, this isn’t the first time Rodriguez and Lopez have made headlines for rubbing elbows with the Gaines duo. It all started with the aforementioned anniversary gift back in February. While visiting the Ellen DeGeneres Show, J.Lo revealed that she’s a super-fan of Fixer Upper. She explained that she and A-Rod had just bought a home in Malibu that she wanted to renovate — so, naturally, she mused out loud that she would love to get Joanna involved. “I was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing to have her do it for us?’ But she doesn’t do anything outside of Waco,” Lopez shared. “Like, nothing.”
Shortly after that conversation, though, A-Rod surprised his soon-to-be bride with the FaceTime call with Joanna. And, in March, Joanna made the trip out to the West Coast to consult with J.Lo. The two were photographed on the beach looking up at the Malibu home, all the while being filmed by a camera crew. While Fixer Upper is no longer airing new episodes, Chip and Joanna did recently announce their own network launching in 2020.
So, here’s hoping we’ll not only see more of Jo.G (we just made that up; think it’ll stick?) and J.Lo on Instagram but that, in the near future, we’ll also see them onscreen together.
