If there are two things we could all use more of in our lives, it’s Chrissy Teigen and food. And, happily, we’re about to get more of both — Hulu just announced it is teaming up with Teigen for a new cooking show co-starring David Chang. The two-year deal will also see the social media superstar and cookbook author develop new shows for the streaming service. Go ahead and geek out over this news, if you’d like. Heck, we’ll join you.
Hulu sounds just as excited as the rest of us over the deal (as they should be, because Teigen is a damn treasure). “The Hulu platform is Chrissy’s oyster,” the network said in a press release, adding that in addition to the cooking show, Teigen’s Hulu projects “could range from scripted drama series to original talk shows.” As for the focus of the inaugural cooking show co-hosted by Teigen and Chang, Variety reports that the working title is Family Style. It will center on how food fosters both familial and social connections.
Per Chang, “I’m hoping we can keep integrating new perspectives into the conversation, telling compelling stories about our culture, and trying to change people’s ideas of what food television can and should do. I think there’s an audience out there that understands and celebrates the world through food, and they’re hungry for shows that feed their sense of curiosity in new ways.”
If you want to get a taste (see what we did there?) for Teigen’s foodie style ahead of her Hulu show, you could always pick up one of her two best-selling cookbooks. In 2016, she released Cravings, which included recipes like fried chicken wings with spicy honey butter — a favorite of her husband, John Legend — and cheesy jalapeño bacon cornbread. 2018 brought Cravings: Hungry for More and, with it, recipes like “everything bagel” cream cheese breakfast bake.
Yum feels like an understatement here. We can’t wait to devour every episode of Teigen’s cooking show, and any other TV project she and Hulu come up with.
