Well, if this isn’t the best news we’ve had all week: Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas got married in a surprise wedding in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1. Admittedly, it was a surprise to the rest of the world since People reports via online registry records that the couple had apparently obtained a marriage license earlier in the day, indicating at least a bit of planning on their part, but still! This is major news!
Diplo, the rakish, world-renowned DJ responsible for every summer bop you’ve ever loved, was the one who spilled the beans about Turner and Jonas’s intimate Vegas nuptials. Posting to his Instagram Stories, we know that Turner and Jonas got hitched right after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, which were also held in Vegas. Diplo’s posts show that he not only attended the wedding but also did a little bit of DJ’ing as well. The first of the series of posts (you can watch the story in its entirety below) shows Diplo following Turner, dressed in white, and a group of friends into what appears to be a Vegas chapel with the caption, “Gotta hit this wedding real quick.”

Diplo also shared other photos and video from the ceremony, including Jonas standing at the altar as friends took seats on plush velvet chairs. Musical duo Dan + Shay provided the music for Turner to walk down the aisle to and, as Diplo’s video shows, she looks absolutely stunning in a simple, low-cut, white satin dress and voluminous veil. Jonas brothers Nick and Kevin served as Jonas’s groomsmen and it looks like Turner’s father walked her down the aisle. Although you can’t see it in Diplo’s vids, we’re also willing to bet good money Nick’s wife, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, was also in attendance as was Kevin’s wife, Danielle Jonas, since the pair were sitting with Turner in the BBMAs audience and singing while the Jonas Brothers performed earlier than night. People also reports that the couple exchanged candy ring pops in lieu of actual wedding bands once the vows were said, so keep an eye out for the actual wedding ring Jonas gets for Turner in the near future.
Turner and Jonas have been an item since 2016 when Jonas slid into the Game of Thrones star’s Instagram DMs, a move Sansa Stark would respect. The pair have been nearly inseparable since then, getting engaged less than a year after they started dating. Since then, Turner and Jonas have participated in the big events in one another’s lives, including Turner appearing in the music video for the Jonas Brothers’ newest single “Sucker,” and Jonas was on set during the filming of the final season of Game of Thrones.

These two have always bucked tradition, so this Vegas wedding should be as much of a surprise as it is — but here we are! We’re excited to see what the future holds for this couple.
