Jada Pinkett Smith has always had a special knack for making her guests feel at ease while encouraging unseen levels of candor on past episodes of her Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk. So we’re not surprised that Ayesha Curry opened up about her marriage on the show earlier this week, but we are surprised to see that Curry was willing to talk about the one aspect of her marriage to Stephen Curry she’s not cool with even though she has to deal with it consistently.
Curry and her mother-in-law, Sonya Curry, were guests on the latest episode of Red Table Talk, joining Pinkett Smith and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, for another honest heart-to-heart conversation. At one point during the interview (and as you can see in the clip below), Pinkett Smith is ready to get raw and real about one of the least fun aspects of being married to a global celebrity: the attention they get from other women.
Pinkett Smith cuts right to quick, asking, “How do y’all deal with all the ladies around y’all men?”
Curry takes the lead on answering and, in a departure from her and Steph’s presentation as the picture perfect couple, she gets brutally honest about having to toughen up and be willing to step in to assert herself when she sees women getting too close to her husband.
“Stephen is very nice by nature and he’s very talkative,” Curry tells Pinkett Smith. “Everything is always very friendly and sometimes to the point where I’m like, I’m a grown woman so I’ll just insert myself. I’ll be like, ‘Hello. How are you doing?’ I’m OK with it now and obviously, you know the devil is a liar.”
She continues, “The ladies will always be lurking, hoping for their moment and waiting. But for me, I honestly hate it.”

The couple, who have known each other since they were teenagers and married since 2011, have often been viewed as a picture-perfect duo; the epitome of #relationshipgoals. That’s not a knock; whenever you see these two together, you can tell their love is rooted in something real and solid. But in light of this, Curry rarely opens up about the tougher aspects of being married to one of the highest paid male athletes right now, so her comments about protecting relationship is refreshing to hear.
These two have thriving careers, a love that is very solid and they have built a strong family unit — they’re parents to Riley, 6, Ryan 3, and Canon, who arrived in July 2018. That, to us, is in no danger of splitting up.
