Talk about one tough lady! Amy Schumer hit the Met Gala red carpet just hours before giving birth and, TBH, we aren’t surprised at this point. Despite suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum (aka extreme sickness) throughout her pregnancy, Schumer never lost her sense of humor. In fact, despite how utterly miserable she must have felt, she kept the rest of us laughing at her brutally honest — and, let’s be real — hilariously descriptive depiction of pregnancy. So, the fact that she crashed the Met Gala red carpet while on her way to the hospital? Well, that just somehow seems fitting.
Schumer, who attended the Met Gala in both 2016 and 2017, comically shared a photo of herself taken on the iconic Met staircase on Sunday evening. Unlike the formal wear she opted for in the past, Schumer rocked a decidedly more casual ensemble consisting of a gray t-shirt, beige cardigan and black leggings with sneakers. “Met look this year,” she joked, adding, “Last night on the way to the hospital.” Then, to drive home the point that she really was on the way to the hospital, Schumer soon after shared a snapshot of her and husband Chris Fisher with their newborn baby boy.

In further proof Schumer is a gosh damn warrior, less than 24 hours after giving birth she managed to pay homage to a long-running inside joke. “10:55 pm last night,” she started, detailing her son’s time of birth. “Our royal baby was born.” This will undoubtedly elicit a smile from anyone who’s been following Schumer’s pregnancy. In her Netflix standup special, Growing, Schumer playfully lamented, “I’ll tell you who it’s not fun being pregnant at the exact same time as: Meghan Markle! She’s out there in her six-inch heels, adorable outfits… I think we’re to the day the same amount pregnant.”
Schumer is apparently pretty good at gestational date predictions because she and Meghan announced the births of their firstborn sons at nearly the exact same time. Meghan and Harry welcomed their son at 5:26 a.m. Monday, London Time. Schumer and Fischer’s son was born only one-and-a-half hours earlier, at 10:55 p.m. Eastern Time.
Between her uncanny accuracy about the royal baby and her last-minute, super-preggo appearance at the Met Gala, we’re bigger fans of Schumer than ever before. You might even say we’re royally big fans.
