Forget baby Archie — America just had a royal baby of its own. On Thursday evening, news broke that Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West‘s surrogate was in labor. This morning, Kardashian West confirmed the arrival of their fourth child on Twitter. “He’s perfect,” she gushed, adding a few hours later that he’s “Chicago’s twin.”

On Thursday evening, Kourtney Kardashian revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that Kim and Kanye’s surrogate was in labor. The news shocked both host Ellen and guest Kris Jenner, who quickly responded “what are we doing here?” Kim has been very open about her and Kanye’s decision to have a fourth child: last May, they revealed that they had one male embryo remaining; and in January, they confirmed that they had a son on the way.
Kardashian West has been vocal about her desire to have four children, so this will likely be the last time she welcomes a new baby. “I heard that parents of four are the most enlightened and calm of all parents,” Kardashian West shared with Jimmy Fallon back in February, while an “insider” told Peoplethat ““Kim has always wanted four kids” and “talks about it all the time.” A second source confirmed, adding that West shared her vision. The couple “always talked about wanting four kids: two boys and two girls,” the source shares. “That’s always been the plan.”
In late April, Kardashian West hosted a star-studded, CBD-themed baby shower in preparation, with guests like Chrissy Teigen and Larsa Pippen in attendance. The mother of four admitted she was “freaking out” about how soon the baby was coming, and added that it felt “kind of ridiculous to have a fourth baby shower.” But hey — the Kardashians have never been known for being understated, and everyone should celebrate welcoming a new child. Congratulations, Kim and Kanye!
