[Warning: Spoilers ahead!] ICYMI, the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones aired this weekend, and it was a doozy — fans were officially shooketh. Beloved characters did surprisingly terrible things. Terrible characters turned surprisingly sympathetic. Ruling the latter camp, of course, was Cersei. And among the fans who have feelings about that turns out to be Reese Witherspoon. In fact, the Big Little Lies producer and star offered up an enticing alternative reality for Cersei. Hint? It involves the infamous mother-slash-dark-queen of Westeros taking her mama drama to a much sunnier clime.
Here’s a bit more backstory, in case your brain managed to block out the events that transpired on GoT Sunday night. Basically, Cersei’s reign of terror officially came to an end after Daenerys went full scorched earth on King’s Landing. Cersei’s twin (and sometimes lover) Jaime managed to fight his way to her and the pair even almost managed to escape. But unfortunately for them, they didn’t realize the exits to the crypt tunnels they were using to flee were blocked by rubble. With no moves left, Cersei uncharacteristically bawled her eyes out over her life’s end in the arms of her brother.
Enter Witherspoon, who took to Instagram to imply Cersei deserves an ending more befitting of her stature. Or perhaps a new beginning? “I’m just saying… she’d fit in really well in Monterey,” Witherspoon joked of adding the iconic GoT character to the Big Little Lies lineup.

And, c’mon, the Monterey 6 does have a nice ring to it, right? Besides, with Celeste’s abusive husband Perry now out of the picture, BLL needs a new big baddie. In season one, Renata was the mom on the outside looking in. Cersei wouldn’t just be the mom on the outside looking in, though; she might actually turn the other ladies inside-out. So, ya know, Witherspoon should be careful what she wishes for. Her character Madeline may be feisty, but not even she has claws as sharp as Lady Lannister.
Of course, with Cersei now being a goner on GoT, we all know this is one character crossover that will never come to fruition. Still, is it too much to hope that Cersei’s acting alter-ego, Lena Headey, could join the BLL cast? She’s already on HBO’s payroll, and she’d make yet another killer (that was for you, Cers) addition to a powerhouse group of women that includes Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep.
We can see it now! BLL season three — winter, er, Headey is coming to Cali.
