No Feud Here: Prince William & Kate Middleton Just Met Baby Archie

Feud, schmeud! If there was any squabbling going on within the royal family, it’s been squashed. And there’s one big, or rather tiny, reason: a new baby in the ranks. On Tuesday, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge met their royal nephew Archie for the first time, just a week past the little guy’s May 6 birth. So, can we all agree it’s time to leave rumors of a rift between Prince Harry and William or Kate and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in the past? It’s time to focus on more pertinent things, like just how adorable baby Archie is and how precious it’s going to be once he’s old enough to play with his royal cousins.

For now, it would appear William and Kate chose not to bring their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — when they traveled to Harry and Meghan’s home at Frogmore Cottage to meet the newest addition to the royal family. Per E! News, a spokesperson for the House of Sussex confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had indeed met their nephew for the first time, revealing, “It was a private visit.”

According to People, the couples squeezed in the important introduction after separate royal work engagements for Harry, who visited patients at the Oxford Children’s Hospital, and Kate, who dropped by a WWII code-breaking spy base in Bletchley Park.

Just last week, William and Kate couldn’t help gushing to reporters about how excited they were to officially lay eyes on the new royal baby. “[We’re] absolutely thrilled, absolutely thrilled, and looking forward to seeing him in the next few days when he’s quietened down. I’m very pleased to welcome my own brother to the sleep deprivation society that is parenting!” William joked, with Kate adding, “We look forward to meeting him… I’m wishing them the best in these next few weeks. It’s always a bit daunting the first time around.”

This marks the latest in a growing lineup of milestone meetings baby Archie has enjoyed in his brief one week on earth. By all accounts, he met his grandmother, Doria Ragland, and his great-grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, first. Harry and Meghan chose a snapshot from that historic meeting to formally introduce their son to the world, announcing his name for the first time in an Instagram post.

Baby Archie has also met his great-aunt, per Us Weekly. “Harry’s aunt, Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, has met Baby Sussex,” a source told Us on Tuesday. “Harry still remains very close with his family from Diana’s side and it was important to him that Jane meet the baby.”

There will undoubtedly be many more introductions in baby Archie’s future. But for now, we’re just glad the little guy is surrounded by so much love.
