If you come at Tori Spelling on social media, be prepared to hear from Dean McDermott. The latest example of the Beverly Hills, 90210 star’s husband coming to her defense was on Sunday when McDermott responded to trolls over Spelling’s bikini photo with her friends-slash-former-costars, Jennier Garth and Gabrielle Carteris. And, really, who can blame him? The BH90210 reboot must be stirring up some serious high school vibes, because Spelling’s Instagram comments seemed to attract a few mean girls.
Judging by the black bathing suits the three women are wearing in the snapshot, the actresses were taking a break from soaking up rays on a rooftop to enjoy (as Spelling captioned) “Sunday Family Dinner.” Standing behind an outdoor dining table, the three look happy and relaxed. These are all reasons to applaud, right? Three women over 40 who (rightly so) feel confident enough in their own skin to rock fresh faces and bathing suits? More of that on social media, please! But, unsurprisingly, there were still those who felt compelled to critique the women. “I’m cringing,” wrote one commenter, with another adding, “Yeah, the phrase ‘trying too hard to be relevant’ comes to mind.” Another accused Spelling of doing “anything for money and attention.”
Enter, McDermott. “I love how you haters have private accts!! Let’s see what you trolls look like ya cowards!!!” he responded to the vitriol.

McDermott wasn’t the only one defending Spelling, Carteris and Garth, though. Plenty of fans joined Spelling’s husband in applauding the ladies as beautiful and inspiring. One fan even gushed that the photo was their “’if you could have dinner with three people dead or alive’ dream!!”
And for many fans, the photo made them even more excited about the impending small screen return of “Donna, Andrea and Kelly,” along with most of the other OG Beverly Hills gang. Described by Fox as a “serialized drama” in which the stars will play “heightened versions of themselves,” BH9010 is set to premiere on Aug. 7. Interestingly, the network recently announced that Vanessa Lachey and La La Anthony had also signed on for the series to play the wives of Jason Priestley and Brian Austin Green, respectively.
Which brings us back around to McDermott! Will he make a cameo as his real-life wife’s onscreen husband? Or will she be getting a faux marriage for TV, too? Either way, it looks like we know where to find him in the meantime — defending Spelling’s honor against the slings and arrows of keyboard warriors.
