Brad Pitt Is Going on Mini-Vacays with His Kids While Angelina Jolie Films a New Movie

It took time for them to get to this point, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are getting into the groove of co-parenting post-split. Proof progress is being made? Dad’s on duty! Per Entertainment Tonight, Pitt is “vacationing” with his kids without Jolie. The couple’s six children — Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — are on vacay with their dad, while Jolie films her new thriller, Those Who Wish Me Dead, in New Mexico.

Well, basically. The kids are technically the ones on vacation (not their dad), as they’ve reportedly settled into a New Mexico rental home temporarily with their mom for the duration of filming. However, according to ET’s source, the children have been flying into LA periodically to spend time with their father. These mini-vacays are apparently part of a visitation schedule that Pitt and Jolie devised and agreed upon prior to her work-related move, per the source. And since Pitt’s schedule is relatively flexible at the moment, he allegedly plans to pop into New Mexico a few times over the summer to squeeze in whatever quality time with the kids that he can.

Life, by all accounts, seems to be moving along for the readjusting family. “All is well. The kids are happy, which makes them [Pitt and Jolie] happy. There’s no more conflict behind the scenes,” ET’s source shared.

You could almost say things have returned to normal (or at least the Jolie-Pitt version of normal). “They have taken multiple Targe runs and love shopping and going out to eat,” an insider told E! News about the kids’ current New Mexico lifestyle. “Angelina spoils them with carts full of toys and sporting goods. She loves to indulge them with new things as much as she can. She has had to work a lot, so she wanted them to have fun and stay busy. When they arrived, they set up their house with all kinds of new pets, stuff for their rooms and toys.” Of their “regular” visits with Pitt, the insider said Pitt “does whatever he can to make their time together positive. Each relationship [he has with each child] is different, and some are better than others.”

Although the insider claims Pitt and Jolie rarely see eye-to-eye on much since going their separate ways in 2016, they are in agreement about one thing: They want their children to be happy. In addition to therapy and ongoing meetings, that means finding holding space for each other to spend quality time with the kids on their own. And the amicable page Pitt and Jolie now find themselves on is likely practical too — they’re both juggling full working schedules, kicking off this summer with Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil for her and the star-studded Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for him.
