Kourtney Kardashian Wouldn’t Have Co-Parented with Scott Disick if It Wasn’t for This Couple

Kourtney Kardashian is ready to make a major transition and move forward with her family. In the latest episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, fans learned Kourtney Kardashian’s parents inspired her co-parenting with Scott Disick. While the mogul and famed celebrity is no longer with her long-time partner, she is using the inspiration of her parents to keep him in an active role in their children’s lives.

The episode showed Kardashian, Disick, their three children (Mason, 9, Penelope, 6, Reign, 4) and Disick’s girlfriend, Sofia Richie ,on vacation together. While on the surface, the choice might seem awkward, the eldest Kardashian sister was happy with the situation. “The trip was really fun and easy,” she revealed in the episode. “I know we don’t have to travel together, and I don’t think we’ll take every trip together, but it was totally not awkward.” This isn’t the first time Kardashian has joined her ex and his partner on a vacation with their children. Just this past December, Kardashian vacationed with Disick and Richie in Mexico.

Kardashian and Disick officially broke up in 2015 and have three children together. Though Disick and Kardashian are no longer romantically involved, maintaining a sense of unity is important for the mom of three. Kris Jenner, Kardashian’s mother, was still puzzled by the whole arrangement, as many fans likely were. But Kardashian explained her choice thoroughly, saying,” He was gonna take them anyways,” Kardashian explained. “So I’m like, do I want to go and experience it with them? Or do I want to stay home?… I don’t want to miss out on this with my kids.”

Kardashian’s own inspiration for her choice comes directly from her parents. Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian divorced in 1991, and while the once-married pair didn’t become friendly instantaneously, once a foundation was made, the lives of Kourtney and her siblings became much easier and fulfilling with both of their parents around. “I know with my parents, as soon as everyone got along, life was so much easier. It felt like everyone was happy,” Kourtney said. “So as long as everyone’s OK with it, I think it’s amazing we all get to travel together.” Kris explained, “It took me a couple of years after Robert and I got divorced, but we became the best of friends,” Kris shared. “So I know a thing or two about being friendly with your ex and co-parenting.”

While her mother still has misgivings about the arrangement, Kardashian and Disick are working in tandem to prove that co-parenting, regardless of how awkward it can be at first, is not only doable, but can yield the sense of normalcy for their children.
