Ava Phillippe Is Not Amused with Fans Who Say Her Boyfriend Looks Like Her Dad

Ava Phillippe does not appreciate those Ryan Phillippe comparisons. Reese Witherspoon’s daughter responded to claims her boyfriend was Ryan Phillippe’s look-alike, and she’s not amused. The comparisons started on Monday when Ava posted a photo of her and her boyfriend, Owen Mahoney, on a date at Los Angeles’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery, which led followers to compare the couple to a “young Reese and Ryan.” “It’s crazy how much this looks like Ryan and Reese too funny! So cute!” wrote an Instagram user. “Is it just me or does her new beau have a little bit of Ryan in him?” added another.

However, not everyone thought Ava’s beau looked like Phillippe’s look-alike. “He does not like your dad,” one follower commented, which led Ava to respond, “Big thx.”

There are many perks to being the child of a celebrity (we imagine). But the downside is having your private life open to the scrutiny of your parents’ fans, as Ava Phillippe may have just realized. Yesterday, fans decided that Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava’s boyfriend is Ryan Phillippe’s look-alike, commenting on Ava’s Instagrams of her date night about how much the couple reminded them of a young Reese and Ryan. 19-year-old Ava probably doesn’t love hearing that her boyfriend is a dead ringer for dad Ryan Phillippe, but after taking a look at these pictures, we have to say we see the resemblance.

The photos posted by Ava show her and her boyfriend at Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where they were catching a showing of The Birdcage. Fans have noted Ava’s resemblance to Witherspoon before, and this picture is no different: Her blond hair and big smile mirror not only Witherspoon’s physical features, but the same goofy, vibrant energy. Her boyfriend’s resemblance to Ryan Phillippe, however, dominates the comments: “Is it just me or does her new beau have a little bit of Ryan in him?” one asks. “This looks like a bit like a flashback picture of your mom & dad,” another writes. A third: “You and your mother have the same type, looks exactly like your dad.”

One commenter also pointed out that Ava might not be thrilled about these comments: “I’m sure she LOVES getting told her boyfriend looks like a young version of her dad,” the commenter wrote. Another commenter replied: “haha true! At least her dad is 🔥.” Honestly, they have a point (sorry Ava!). If she can get past the world saying he looks like her dad and read through to the subtext, what we’re saying is this: Her new boyfriend is a good-looking guy.
