On Saturday, June 8, Meghan Markle made her first public post-baby appearance at Trooping the Colour, and unsurprisingly, all eyes were on the new mama — and her mysterious new bling. Turns out, the piece of jewelry was an anniversary ring from Prince Harry to Meghan Markle — not a push present as many had assumed. Still, the gift is every bit as sweet.
Worn next to her wedding band and engagement ring, Meghan’s new eternity ring was spotted as she waved to the crowd on her Trooping the Colour carriage ride with Harry, Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Since eternity rings are often given in celebration of a special occasion or milestone, it wasn’t a stretch to think that Harry had picked the eternity ring out for his wife as a push present, given the recent birth of their son, Archie, on May 6.
And while the pavé-set ring was a gift from Harry, it apparently wasn’t a nod to Meghan becoming a mother. Per Us Weekly, a source indicated that the piece of jewelry is “an eternity ring/anniversary gift.” People also confirmed that Meghan’s new jewelry is an anniversary ring, symbolic of the royal couple’s first year of marriage. The couple wed one year ago on May 19.

So, the ring may not have been a push present — but it was a present and a romantic one at that. And who knows? Maybe having that constant reminder of her husband’s abiding love for her on her finger helped Meghan through her first official outing away from the couple’s 5-week-old son. “She has spent almost every moment with him and saying goodbye was very difficult,” a source told Us on Monday, June 10. “But Meghan truly wanted to be at the celebration for the queen.”
Of course, it’s also worth noting that just because the ring set isn’t Meghan’s push present doesn’t mean she didn’t get one. Prince Harry is clearly a doting, romantic husband, so it’s certainly possible he did gift his wife something special in honor of their newborn. Maybe she just hasn’t had a chance to wear it yet (this was only her first post-baby outing, after all). Or, hey, maybe it isn’t something you wear at all.
Perhaps we’ll find out at Meghan’s next public appearance, which is thought to be baby Archie’s christening sometime this summer.
