Jason Sudeikis Trolled Olivia Wilde for Terrifying Their Son at the Happiest Place on Earth

One of the guilty pleasures of parenting is being able to poke fun at some of your partner’s comically bad parenting decisions — and celebrity parents tend to troll each other better than most. Prime example? Jason Sudeikis trolling Olivia Wilde for “traumatizing” their son Otis, who was 4 years old at the time. Ironically, the questionable parenting incident played out at none other than the happiest place on earth: Disneyland.

On Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Sudeikis stepped in to guest host in place of DeGeneres. After introducing Wilde with a glowing intro (which included pointing out she was the mother of his children), Sudeikis small talked with his fiancé about things like her directorial debut and their previous appearances on the show. But then, he pivoted to Wilde’s parenting. “This is important, this is something I wanted to bring up,” he said, explaining to the audience that the couple took their son Otis to Disneyland for his fourth birthday. After taking the little boy on Splash Mountain twice with great success, they got “cocky” and, per Sudeikis, decided to attempt Space Mountain.

Sudeikis then shared a photo from the experience, which showed Wilde tightly clutching Otis to keep him in his seat. And although Otis’ face is mostly obscured by his hair, it’s pretty clear he wasn’t a fan of Space Mountain.

After some playful jabbing from Sudeikis, though, Wilde admits the moment may have been worse for her than it was for their son. “It’s really traumatizing or me because you’re not supposed to take a 4-year-old on [the ride] — look at my face! I’ve never been so scared in my life. That’s real mom fear!” Wilde shared, to which Sudeikis quipped, “And that’s real little boy fear… he looks like he’s in The Ring.”

Admittedly, Wilde questions her own decisions that day. “First of all, why did we go in the front? That I’ll never understand. Second of all, why did they let him on? There’s a height chart, but there’s no weight chart. So, he’s really tall, but he’s really skinny; he’s like a little string bean. He could have flown right out of there,” she said, underscoring, “I’ve never been so scared in my life.”

Of course, this is Sudeikis and Wilde we’re talking about — they’re both hilarious, so you half-expected what Sudeikis said next. “The reason why they let him on that roller coaster is because we wrote ‘em a check for $500,000, which, you can get anything you want for that money. You can get anything you want! That’s the real fast pass!” Sudeikis said, cheekily referencing the college admissions scandal involving celebrities like Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. (He kids, he kids; Wilde clarified, “No, I don’t think so.”)

These two! We’d love to be a fly on the wall in their household. In all seriousness, though, it’s cute that they can laugh at these little moments together. Space Mountain miscalculation notwithstanding, we’d say Wilde and Sudeikis are parenting and couple #goals.
