Mark Your Calendar, Because Grey’s Anatomy Season 16 Is Coming soon

Good news, Grey’s fam — ABC’s long-running medical drama will be back with fresh episodes before we know it. On Tuesday, Grey’s Anatomy announced the season 16 premiere date, meaning it’s time to sync up your Google calendar, jot a note in your day planner or do whatever it takes to remind yourself that we’ll soon find out what’s in store for Meredith and the rest of the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital gang.

While we would have loved a few juicy teasers, we’ll take what we can get. And, in this case, what Grey’s delivered was the equivalent of a save-the-date card. Taking to social media, the show shared a photo of Mer looking deceptively happy (more on that in a minute). “#GreysAnatomy returns on Thursday, September 26 on ABC!” the show captioned the post. So, see? That’s not too far away, and this summer is flying by anyway.

Per the norm, Grey’s will air during the 8 p.m. ET time slot. And you might as well stock up on popcorn and Kleenex now, because Grey’s season 16 premiere will be followed by A Million Little Things’ season two premiere at 9 p.m. ET and How to Get Away With Murder at 10 p.m. ET.

Of course, returning to the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital could look very different in the near future. For starters, Meredith’s fate is fairly uncertain at the moment. She pretty much masterminded an insurance fraud scandal, which sounds bad, admittedly. But we all know she was doing it for the right reason — to save a young girl seeking asylum who was in danger of dying but didn’t have insurance for her life-saving operation. However, Richard and DeLuca (willingly) jumped in to help her, and all three of them end up being fired.

Even worse, DeLuca took the fall and is in jail. Mer visited him, told him she loved him and, by all appearances, was ready to exchange her freedom for his. But, c’mon, could that really happen? And is Richard really fired, too? Also, how is the whole Teddy-Owen-Amelia-Koracik love triangle (er, love quad) going to play out now that Teddy and Owen’s baby has been born — not to mention since Owen finally professed his undying love for Teddy? Does Jo going into psych mean we won’t see her this season? (Please say we will!)

And, finally, WTF happened to Jackson? He stepped out into the fog, not to be seen again by Maggie. Rumors have begun circulating that he’s leaving the show, which means the season premiere could pack a real emotional wallop. If only we could fast-forward to September!
