Ethan Hawke Had the Most Dad Reaction to Watching His Daughter on Stranger Things

We love parents supporting their children’s dreams. Ethan Hawke praised daughter Maya’s Stranger Things season 3 performance, and like her dad, we agree that Maya was an MVP on Stranger Things this season. The Oscar-nominated actor and his ex — Maya’s mother, Uma Thurman — had nothing but nice things to say about their daughter, whose star is on the rise in Hollywood.

Hawke and Thurman were married from 1998 to 2005 and share one daughter, Maya, who was born in July of 1998. Since she started acting, Maya has been doing some small work, with her biggest break prior to Stranger Things being the BBC’s Little Women miniseries.  Since then, fans have been fawning over the young actress’s talent — including her own parents. Ethan Hawke took to Instagram to share is pride with his followers, and his post left us a bit teary-eyed.

“Some of you may have missed her in last year’s BBC production of Little Women. Some of you may have missed her work at Juilliard. I know many missed out on numerous high school productions — heck I even missed a few and I’m her father,” Hawke wrote on Instagram alongside a promotional video of Maya in costume as her character Robin, who is prominently featured in the new season with fan favorite Joe Keery. Thurman also congratulated Maya on Instagram. “A weekend of triumph on Stranger Things,” the actress wrote. “Congratulations beloved @maya_hawke.”

Hawke also expressed how proud he is of where his daughter is taking her career. The Oscar-nominated actor previously shared with People, “Words cannot explain. It’s one of the most amazing moments of my life watching her in Little Women. To see your child thrive, and to see her thrive at a profession that you have a lot of respect for, that I’ve dedicated my life to, I was so proud of her.” For devotees of the sci-fi series, here’s hoping we see more of Maya (and Robin) in the fourth season of Stranger Things.
