Are Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Really Renewing Their Vows with a $1 Million Wedding?

Here’s a wild celebrity rumor for ya: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are renewing their vows with a $1 million wedding. Is it true? (Spoiler alert: Of course not!) But here’s how the rumor started and what it said. According to this week’s issue of the Globe, the Live with Kelly and Ryan cohost and the Riverdale star are expected to renew their vows after 23 years of marriage with a $1 million wedding. Ripa and Consuelos eloped in Las Vegas on May 1, 1996 after meeting on the set of All My Children, where they played love interests.

“Ripa’s finally going to have a huge wedding with all the trimming,” a so-called source told the Globe. “[Ripa’s] been begging Mark to marry her all over again and he’s said yes. She’s really excited and coordinating all the details with a wedding planner.” The source continued, “She’s telling friends plans are in motion for a big splashy wedding and reception with all the bells and whistles at their home in the Hamptons.” As for what the wedding will include, the source — who claimed that Ripa and Consuelos can afford a $1 million wedding because of their Live and Riverdale salaries — noted that the nuptials will be attended by 500 guests (including stars like Ryan Seacrest, Andy Cohen and Sarah Michelle Gellar), with meals prepared by Gordon Ramsay.

If this sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is. Gossip Cop, a site known for fact-checking celebrity rumors, debunked the claims, stating that the wedding will happen “exactly one week… from never.” A source close to Ripa told Gossip Cop that the Globe’s report was “totally false.” Gossip Cop also notes that the source wondered “where they got this story from.”

Sorry for those holding out for invites, but it looks like a $1 million Ripa-Consuelos wedding is not happening. It seems like the parents may be too busy for it anyways. With their daughter, Lola, recently graduating from high school, and their recent family vacation, it seems like the couple is concentrating on their kin rather than a lavish Hollywood party. Understandable… but still, we would have loved to see Ripa and Seacrest tear it up on the dance floor.
