While it’s been over a year since Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux called it quits, the traces of their former life still bring the couple together from time to time. The couple’s shared dog, Dolly, passed away this weekend, and it appears that Aniston and Theroux reunited to mourn their dog together. Theroux mourned Dolly in a heartfelt Instagram post, and one of the pictures showed what many believe to be Theroux holding hands with Aniston over Dolly’s body.
Theroux’s Instagram post has the following caption: “Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle… our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield. She was surrounded by her entire family. ‘The one that never deserts, the one that never proves ungrateful… is the dog— faithful and true, even in death.’ -George Vest Rest In Peace Dolly.” The first picture shows Dolly, majestic against a snowy backdrop. The following pictures show her body at various angles, wrapped in a white blanket and strewn with flowers, as hands clasp over her and adjust her covering.
Entertainment Tonight reports that the hands in the picture are rumored to be Aniston’s for two reasons: She co-owned Dolly with Theroux and the freckles in the photo look similar to Aniston’s beauty marks.

Theroux’s Instagram concludes with the hashtags “adopt don’t shop” and “rescue dog,” urging other prospective dog owners to adopt dogs in need of a home. Theroux and Aniston are both dedicated dog owners and are no doubt heartbroken over the loss of Dolly. Hopefully, their status as exes hasn’t prevented them from being there for each other — from the looks of these photos, it didn’t prevent them from giving their shared pet a proper goodbye.
