There’s nothing like a scandal to bring out old friends — and these former co-stars are sticking by each others’ sides. Eva Longoria reacted to Felicity Huffman’s college admissions scandal involvement this week, expressing that she felt her old friend (and fellow Desperate Housewives star) had done the best she could handling the fallout. It was a strong show of support after months of Huffman’s (and fellow celeb Lori Loughlin’s) names being dragged through the mud after the revelation that they had engaged in fraudulent activity to secure their children’s admission at prestigious universities. Longoria doesn’t make excuses for Huffman’s behavior, but she commends the actress on how she’s handled things since.
In an exclusive with Entertainment Tonight, Longoria shared her thoughts on how her former costar carried herself and commended the decisions Huffman and her legal team made. “I think she has a heart that is bigger than the sun and that’s the Felicity I know and that’s the woman I choose to support and love,” Longoria said. “She was humbled by what happened and I think she did handle it with as much grace as she could in that situation.” Huffman pled guilty to conspiracy and fraud charges in May of this year.

Longoria and Huffman became very close on the set of ABC’s Desperate Housewives where they were costars for eight years. The pair have been very supportive of each other since, and it seems even this scandal isn’t enough to sever their ties. Longoria isn’t the first to speak out in support of Huffman: earlier this month, the cast of Huffman’s latest film Otherhood spoke with Entertainment Tonight about how Huffman has handled the situation. “I feel that she’s sincerely truly sorry and feels she made a humongous mistake,” Patricia Arquette said. “I think she dealt with it the best way that you can deal with it, but I know she’s probably carrying a lot of shame and guilt and all that stuff.” Angela Bassett agreed: “I think she’s handling it like a grown-up person. She’s handling it like a grown woman.”
Huffman’s sentencing is scheduled for September 13.
