Is a new era in talk shows coming soon? It sure looks like it, because word has it that Drew Barrymore is shooting a new daytime talk show pilot.
Details are still sketchy, but Variety reported that Barrymore is in New York City this week working with CBS Television Distribution on a pilot for the new show. It is presumably an hour-long talk show with Barrymore set to be the host and executive producer via her Flower Films production company. There’s no announcement of a showrunner, who would be running the series day-to-day, just yet.
Dabbling with the talk-show circuit isn’t new for Barrymore. In 2016 she was said to be developing a similar show with Warner Bros., but the deal was terminated after failing to drum up interest from local channels at the time.
Barrymore also isn’t the only big-time star interested in the small screen: singer Kelly Clarkson is working on her own talk show, appropriately titled The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Barrymore recently ended a three-season run on the Netflix horror-comedy Santa Clarita Diet. The show’s cancellation left many online upset — but eager to see what Barrymore would do next. She’s branched out into designing kids furniture and decor and has been vocal about Hollywood’s body-shaming of women. Hopefully, she’ll be able to combine both these things into her new series.
