It’s Official: Jennifer Lopez & Shakira Will Perform the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2020

It’s all happening: Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on February 2, 2020, and all we can say is — we called it! The singers both posted announcements on their Instagrams on Thursday, letting the world know that they will be throwing down side by side in just a few short months.

“This is happening,” Lopez wrote alongside a very body-centric photo of herself on Instagram. “Get ready,” Shakira posted on a similar photo of herself.

The news doesn’t come completely out of left field. An inside source told Hollywood Life that Lopez was a frontrunner for the show earlier this month and was in “very serious talks” to take the stage. Lopez also played coy about it on the Today show with Hoda Kotb a couple of weeks ago. When she was asked about the Super Bowl rumors, and whether she’d be performing, all she said was, “I don’t know. I don’t know.” But her cat-that-ate-the-canary smile said it all.

“Going to set the world on 🔥🔥🔥,” Lopez wrote on Instagram. “It doesn’t get any bigger than this! So excited about getting on that #SuperBowlLIV#PepsiHalftime stage!” Shakira wrote, adding, “#happybirthdaytomeee.” Shakira turns 43 on February 2. What a birthday present!

As for us, we were born ready for this — and we can’t wait. Even total non-football-watchers (hi!) will be tuning in for the show in February. As Lopez so eloquently said, these two songstresses will definitely set the world on fire.
