While there’s no best moment in which to cheat on your partner, there are worst moments — and Tristan Thompson has a knack for hitting all of them. Khloe Kardashian first caught him cheating days before daughter True was born, and now Khloe has shared the co-parenting struggle at True’s birthday, just a few weeks after Thompson’s second cheating scandal exploded (the infamous Jordyn Woods incident). While Khloe ultimately decided to include Thompson in the festivities for True’s celebration of her first revolution around the sun, it sounds like the event was just as awkward as you’d expect. The good news — or bad news, depending on how you look at it — is that the whole thing will be featured on upcoming Season 17 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Khloe opened up about new details from the upcoming season while she visited On Air With Ryan Seacrest this past Friday, explaining that managing her extended family’s feelings about the scandal played a huge role in why having Thompson there was quite so tense. “True’s birthday was just a couple weeks after all of that stuff happened. So everything was really raw and fresh. That was really hard,” Khloe explains. (Part of the Season 17 promo shows sister Kim Kardashian venting about Thompson’s presence at the party.) “In my family, it is everyone who is going through this breakup. So I knew in my family it was going to be a lot of high tension, but I still wanted to do what was best for True.”

For Khloe, the “best thing” for True meant having both parents be part of this milestone: “I always wanted that to be obviously a mommy and daddy thing,” she tells Seacrest. So even though things were tense between her and Thompson, to put it mildly, Khloe swallowed her pride and invited him to their daughter’s celebration. As for how things went in the moment? You’ll have to tune in to Season 17 and find out.
