John Legend and Chrissy Teigen Spent Emmys Night in … Ohio?

If you watch awards shows, you may have noticed John Legend and Chrissy Teigen were missing at the Emmys last night. Sure, Legend actually has an Emmy to his name already (along with basically every other award out there, but that’s not the point) — but as it turns out, the couple had a very good reason for missing the event: They were in Ohio celebrating Legend’s father’s birthday. And if the photos from the trip are any indication, they had the time of their lives.

Teigen tweeted out updates from the family weekend. “Oh you at the Emmys?? well miles and I are jamming out at grandpa legends’s 70th birthday in Springfield, Ohio!” she tweeted, alongside an adorable video of 1-year-old son Miles dancing.

Teigen gave us our fix of cuteness from her firstborn, 3-year-old Luna, as well. She shared an Instagram photo of the mother/daughter duo napping on a couch underneath a Sesame Street blanket (in other words, living their best lives), captioned, “You never forget your first nap at granny’s!!” Truer words have never been spoken.

Someone also tweeted that Legend was spotted at Cracker Barrel in Springfield, Ohio, so it’s pretty clear the glam couple was really trying to live the quieter Midwestern life.

All in all? It looks like this sweet family (famous and fabulous as they may be) just had some shockingly relatable, totally wholesome, endearingly normal family fun. And we’re into it — because as much as we all daydream about wearing couture and walking a red carpet, we also know that sometimes a family weekend is every bit as exciting. And we’ll call it like we see it: Watching scenes from Legend and Teigen’s weekend in Ohio? Just as satisfying as watching any awards show.
