In case you needed a reminder that love isn’t dead, one of Hollywood’s sweetest couples has you covered. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.’s “first trip” photos will give you hope that “happily ever after” is a real thing that exists in the world. Nineteen years after heading to Vegas on a romantic getaway, the now-married parents of two are taking a ride down memory lane — in gondolas, no less.
For ’90s kids, there are few more iconic pairings than Gellar and Prinze Jr. The two met on the set of the 1997 horror flick I Know What You Did Last Summer (classic!) and, a few years later, began dating. They went on to star in the campy but likable live-action Scooby-Doo movies as Daphne and Fred. And, in a town where love stories don’t always have a happy ending, they’ve managed to keep making it work. Maybe it’s because they haven’t lost sight of where they started.
“So (gulp) 19 years ago, @realfreddieprinze and I took our first trip as a new couple, to #lasvegas (and it was my first time in Vegas). One of the things we did, was ride the gondolas at the @venetianvegas. Well, this time we got to take our kids for their first trip to Vegas, so obviously we had to take them on the gondolas,” Gellar wrote, sharing then-and-now snapshots of the couple, and apologizing for the “poor quality of the pre-iPhone pic” in the throwback.

Excuse us while we swoon over the couple’s adorable trip back in time. Just look at that before photo — they were babies! The fact that they now have their own not-so-little-anymore babies — daughter Charlotte Grace is 10 and son Rocky James is 7 — to share in the nostalgic moment makes it all the more special.
As for the secret to a marriage that lasts long enough to do Vegas again two decades later, the couple keeps it real. “God, if I knew, I would write a book and retire,” Gellar joked to MSN’s Wonderwall (as Us Weekly reports) in 2013. “I wouldn’t be here right now. I mean, it’s work. You have to work at anything. It’s any relationship in your life. You have to nurture it and take time with it.”
And for Gellar and Prinze Jr., spending some of that time in Vegas is clearly part of the process — and that’s a form of relationship bonding we’re definitely down to try. Hey, maybe Gellar should write that book after all.
