Kate Middleton and Prince William only just gotten back from Pakistan, and they’re already having guests over. The Cambridge royals invited Camila Cabello to Kensington Palace — yes, that Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes’s girlfriend, the ex-Fifth Harmony member.
So, what’s the Cambridge couple doing hanging out with a 22-year-old pop star? Were they just jealous of Prince Harry hanging out with Ed Sheeran, or maybe planning a collab of their own?
Unfortunately, no. Every year, the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards recognize three inspiring UK teens who have overcome challenges and given back to their communities. For the past four years, Kate and William have hosted the Teen Hero finalists at Kensington Palace to reward their achievements. And this year, they made the visit even more special by inviting Cabello and DJs Clara Amfo and Greg James too. Lucky teens!
Cabello was delighted to be included, telling the BBC: “I was so honored to be invited to Kensington Palace to meet and celebrate this year’s Teen Hero finalists with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge … Hearing the incredible things these Teen Heroes have done is so inspirational! Their passion and dedication to help others is amazing and they really blew me away!”

The Kensington Royal Instagram account celebrated these teens today, writing: “Now in its tenth year, @bbcradio1’s Teen Awards is the biggest teen event in the pop music calendar and shines a light on some of the UK’s most inspirational teens, seeing them crowned Teen Heroes of 2019 in front of an audience of 14-17 year-olds.”
Once again, Kate and William set an example of how important it is to give back to the community. The teens they honored are very impressive, and we love that the Cambridge couple is making sure the world knows.
