Preach it, Prince William! At a gala dinner for London’s Air Ambulance Charity, guitarist Eric Clapton asked the Duke of Cambridge about his hobbies (casual). His reply? William’s only hobby is sleeping, now that he has three kids.
Admittedly, there are plenty of reasons why William might not have much time for hobbies right now. Hello Magazine reports that Clapton asked the Duke about being second in line to the throne — a position we imagine comes with lots of new royal responsibilities.
So when Clapton inquired whether the royal’s busy schedule left time for hobbies, it’s sweet that William first thought of his duty to his children. “With the children it’s quite hard to get the time off,” he reportedly answered. “Any free time I do get I sleep!”

This evening held personal significance for the Duke: “Having served as an air ambulance pilot myself, I am in no doubt about the crucial lifeline that air ambulances provide all over the UK,” William addressed the crowd at Thursday’s gala. “Their care can mean the difference between life and death, between recovery and lifelong disability.”
William went on to announce that they’d met the goal of the 30 Years Saving Lives campaign, a fundraising effort for new air ambulance facilities.
“Once complete, these new facilities at the helipad will allow medics to respond even faster to emergencies and ensure crews have the mental health and wellbeing support that they need,” William announced.
William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton have both been vocal champions for better mental healthcare, and it’s notable that William highlighted that need on Thursday. It’s easy to thank emergency response teams for the work they do — but it’s important to remember that those responders need care of their own.
Even more impressive? William, the tired dad of three, got through his whole speech without so much as a yawn.
