Prince William Reveals Prince George & Princess Charlotte Swim ‘Quite Well’

Prince George and Princess Charlotte swim “quite well,” according to Prince William — and it works out well since they all like to hit the enjoy the aquatic hobby together. The Duke of Cambridge opened up about his two oldest children’s swimming proclivities on Tuesday during an investiture ceremony held at Buckingham Palace. And, well, you might say the conversation went ahem, swimmingly.

Honored at the ceremony was Eileen Fenton, the first woman to complete the Cross Channel Swimming Race in 1950 when she was only 21 years old. So, it’s no big surprise what direction her conversation with William took. “He said that he and his wife make sure the children can swim and they all go and they swim quite well,” Fenton, 91, told the Press Association. “I can remember seeing when the Queen was young and her sister Princess Margaret — we used to see them swimming in pictures,” she added, recounting, “He said the whole family have done it.”

At this point, William and wife Kate Middleton have kicked in two additions to the royal “family of swimmers”: George, 6, and Charlotte, 4. However, it sounds as though they’ll make sure their youngest, Prince Louis, 19 months, will follow in his older siblings’ wake.

William and Kate have revealed several of their children’s favorite hobbies in recent months. Earlier this month at the Royal Variety Performance, Kate said George and Charlotte “love performing at home, particularly Charlotte.” The Duchess noted that her kids were also fond of acrobatics, like handstands and cartwheels.

Last month, William let it slip that George has an obsession that is very relatable for a 6-year-old boy: farm equipment! “I should have brought George today; he would be absolutely loving this,” William told farmer Mervyn Keeling while visiting a Dutchy land. “He’s obsessed. My children are already playing [with] tractors. It’s so important to get outside and have the children understand nature.”

Sounds like George and Charlotte are shaping up to be well-rounded individuals if you ask us.
