Think you’ve seen everything that went down at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding? Think again. Today marks two years since the royal couple formally announced their engagement, and they’re marking the occasion by sharing a never-before-seen photo taken on their wedding day.
A post in celebration of the anniversary includes this photo, along with two others. “On this day, two years ago: 27th of November 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the news of their engagement, later becoming Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex! They have since celebrated their wedding anniversary and welcomed their son, Archie, into the world,” the caption reads.
The post includes a photo from the three most momentous occasions in the couple’s history: There’s a shot from their engagement shoot, the aforementioned wedding day image, and an early family photo announcing the arrival of baby Archie.
All three photos are beautiful (obviously!), but the wedding portrait stands out among the many, many photos we’ve seen of the royal couple. It captures a candid, incredibly sweet moment between the bride and groom — both the duke and duchess look so happy, totally relaxed, and very much in love.

The wedding day image may remind you a bit of the iconic (and similarly candid) shot of the royal couple sitting on the steps outside Windsor Castle on their wedding day.
“It was just one of those magical moments, when you’re a photographer and everything falls into place,” royal photographer Alexi Lubomirski said of the famous photo. “The sun is setting right just over the top of Windsor Castle just behind them, it was just the most serene, beautiful light, they’re in love, walking around this beautiful garden. I said just before you go in, let’s sit down on these stairs, and she just slumped in between his legs…They were just laughing because they were joking about how they were exhausted and finally it was over.”
Aw! We love seeing an inside glimpse into this couple’s love story.
