Last week, we learned that Gabrielle Union was fired from America’s Got Talent after only one season as a judge. Now, Ellen Pompeo, Jameela Jamil, and Ariana Grande are supporting Union after being let go from AGT, expressing their strong belief that the NBC show made an error in judgment.
Union was reportedly fired after complaining about the toxic culture at NBC, including repeated racist incidents and unsafe working conditions. Grey’s Anatomy star Pompeo, along with Union’s other celeb supporters and friends, took to Twitter to make her feelings known.
Here’s what she wrote: “It’s unfortunate that @nbc the same network that protected disgusting men like Matt Lauer and punished women for speaking out or not putting up with it…has not changed their practices or culture. I support @itsgabrielleu commitment to speaking up to injustice. It takes courage.”

“This is a teaching moment,” she added, “white girls I’m talking to you..whether you truly understand what racial injustice is or not..that you stand with your sisters on the front lines. Don’t cut side deals & don’t not get involved because it isn’t your issue..because it is.”

Later, Jameela Jamil added her voice to the conversation: “I am lucky to work with really good people at @nbc and am sad and angry to know this has been going on in that same network. I stand with @itsgabrielleu all the way. They should bring her back, with a big raise, and remove @SimonCowell instead.”

Ariana Grande chimed in too, replying to Pompeo’s original tweet: “thank you for this @EllenPompeo. be better @nbc,” the pop star wrote. “we’re with you @gabrielleu.”

Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda showed his support soon after.

Union’s husband, Dwyane Wade, naturally showed his support for the Bring It On star as well with a series of tweets.
“Men lie, Women lie, numbers don’t” Over this past year I’ve been approached by many people saying that my wife @itsgabrielleu is the main reason they’ve started watching #AGT or that they love her insight and sincerity on the show.

So when i got the news that my wife was being fired—my first question was obviously why!? Iam still waiting on a good answer to that question. But if anyone knows @itsgabrielleu or have heard of her you know she’s an advocate for our community and culture.

As proud as i were of her being selected as a judge on #AGT— Iam even more proud of her standing up for what she stands for and that’s US.

So 🥂 to you @itsgabrielleu on not losing sight of the lessons we’ve talked about teaching our daughter and for kicking ass while you were on that platform. Number 1 judge on one of the biggest shows in the world‼️

Union signaled earlier in the week that she knew she wasn’t alone. “So many tears, so much gratitude,” she tweeted. “THANK YOU! Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone… you got me up off the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever.”
