Lenny Kravitz Shares Sweetest Father-Daughter Throwback Photo to Celebrate Zoë Kravitz’s Birthday

Well, this will get your right in the feels! Lenny Kravitz’s birthday throwback for Zoë Kravitz is a study in the enduring bond between a father and daughter. On Sunday, the rocker took it way back with a photo of him holding Zoë in his arms when she was just a little girl. And yep, it’s just as cute as it sounds — even cuter if you also factor in the oh-so-sweet message Lenny wrote to celebrate another year around the sun with his now-grown daughter.

In the grainy black and white photo, Lenny holds a young Zoë in his arms. One of her hands is in his outstretched hand, as though the two are dancing. He appears to be singing to her, too. If only old photos had sound effects, right? “Another year of dancing through this life with you my love,” Lenny captioned the photo in honor of his daughter’s 31^st birthday.

To make matters even sweeter, Zoë’s stepdad Jason Momoa (who is currently married to Zoë’s mom, Lisa Bonet) weighed in on the birthday post, dropping a string of seven heart-eye emojis. Fans couldn’t get enough of the father-daughter memory. Many marveled over the fact that neither Kravitz seems to age, with one fan exclaiming, “Looking the same!” (They’re not wrong.)

Lenny and Zoë have always shared a tight-knit relationship. “She’s amazing, and she’s all the things that I would have hoped for,” he told People magazine earlier this year. “I’m a dad, you know, but we’re friends. We’ve very close. We talk about everything. We don’t hide things from each other.”

That special bond the pair shares recently saw them through a major milestone in Zoë’s life: her wedding. In June, she married actor Karl Glusman at her dad’s home in France — and naturally, walking his only child down the aisle proved to be emotional for Lenny.

Ahead of the big day, he admitted to People, “When that happens, it’ll be a trip and emotional for all the reasons anybody would understand, but also because that’s the one thing my mother talked about before she died, that she wanted to live long enough to see her granddaughter get married.”

And while his mother passed away before being able to see that, Lenny has no doubt she would be proud of the values he passed down to Zoë: “Love, respect, and hard work, honor and discipline, all the stuff I learned.”
