Life is about to get a lot more hectic for one TV anchor! On Monday’s episode of Today with Hoda and Jenna, Hoda Kotb shared a video of her daughter crawling for the first time — a milestone the little one hit over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. And it goes without saying that the fact Kotb was there for the moment is something she really is thankful for. Her reaction, which was captured in the video Kotb shared, speaks to Kotb’s gratitude and joy over witnessing Hope Catherine become more mobile.
Chatting with Bush about her holiday, Kotb revealed that they kept things pretty low-key at her household with the exception of Hope’s milestone moves. “I was just trying to think of, like, what did we do? I don’t really remember,” Kotb admitted before adding, “We had a delicious meal. Hope crawled, and we just lounged around and had a great time.” The proud mom cued up the video, which was shared in her Instagram Stories. Of watching Hope Catherine start to crawl, Kotb admitted she and fiancé Joel Schiffman had been hoping the moment would take place soon.
“We’ve been waiting for a moment,” she said. And if an ecstatic Kotb jumping up and down in the video is any indication, all of the anticipation was well worth the wait.
Kotb and Schiffman adopted Hope in April of this year, making their older daughter Haley Joy — who they adopted in February 2017 — a big sister (a role Kotb told People that Haley takes very seriously).
When the family announced Hope’s arrival via the long-running morning program, Kotb couldn’t help gushing. “You know what’s funny? You think that you’re full. That’s exactly how I felt with Haley and Joel and everything,” she said. “Joel and I were standing there when they hand you the baby, and it’s the closest thing to a live birth you’ll ever see, but in that moment, I was like, ‘Oh my God, my heart just grew.’ It’s amazing.”
