It looks like she’s already putting her budding legal skills to good use. In a super-cute new video, Kim Kardashian enlists “study buddy” Jennifer Lopez for help with her law school homework. And, in the process, she gets a chance to practice a little bit of her legal jargon on an unlikely defendant: Alex Rodriguez!
Kardashian took to Instagram on Thursday to unveil her surprise collaboration with J.Lo, sharing a short video ad starring the women. In the commercial, Kardashian is sitting in what appears to be a dining room with a stack of books in front of her. “Thanks for being my study buddy,” she says to a screen showing Lopez in a living room holding a stack of index cards. “Of course, we’re going to make sure that you’re the best lawyer ever,” Lopez responds, continuing with a question, ” If the defendants file a motion, will the court grant it?” Kardashian — who announced her plans to become a lawyer earlier this year — fires back confidently, “No, because they acted under the authority of the state statute.”
Hilariously, Lopez’s fiancé Rodriguez pops into the frame near the video’s end, interrupting the women’s study sesh. “You’re still studying? I thought we were going to make a snowman,” a bundled-up A-Rod says to his future wife. When she won’t break from her tutoring and “almost lawyer” Kardashian won’t intervene on his behalf, he does the only thing left to do… object.

“Smart video calling from @PortalfromFacebook means @Jlo can help me study for law school from the other side of the country, even if she has some distractions on her end… looking at you @Arod!” Kardashian captioned the video post. Lopez shared the video as well, writing she could “help @KimKardashian become the best lawyer ever. That is, of course, “if only Alex would leave us alone!”
While the video itself is clearly a funny advertisement, there’s no doubt Kardashian is serious about her secondary (or tertiary, maybe — she has a lot going on) career path. When she revealed her plans via social media, she said, “I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals. You can create your own lanes, just as I am.”
The mother-of-four, who plans to take the bar exam in 2022, is already doing commendable work in the legal space. In May, CNN reported that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star had helped commute the life-sentences of 17 first-time nonviolent drug offenders.
