Ellen DeGeneres Urges Blake Shelton to Propose to Gwen Stefani: ‘Time Is Ticking!’

Since they first started dating back in 2015, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been one of the cutest couples to ever grace Hollywood. But despite media speculations and countless rumors, they are yet to be engaged — an issue that Ellen DeGeneres took up with the country singer while he appeared on her talk show on Friday.

During the interview, the talk show host referenced a clock that she gifted to the 43-year-old in an effort to remind him that “time is ticking” when it comes to his engagement to Stefani.

“But you didn’t give it to me! I walked backstage and somebody back there was like, ‘Hey, thanks for being on the show. Can I have that?’ And they took it. So I haven’t seen it. Time didn’t really start ticking at that moment,” he responded with a laugh.

“You’re right. We did that to Jennifer Lopez and now she’s engaged,” Ellen quipped, referring to Lopez’s engagement to athlete Alex Rodriguez.

Throughout the interview, Ellen continued to find ways to circle the topic back to his girlfriend Gwen, even suggesting that he propose to her on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. While suggesting that he takes over the show as a guest host, she added, “You could have Gwen on. You could have anybody on. You could propose to her here.”

“I could. You’re right,” he replied. “I’ll save that for you and this show.”

Though the conversation was lighthearted, Ellen isn’t the only one who’s been patiently waiting for Blake to place a diamond on Gwen’s finger. Fans have been eager to see The Voice stars get engaged — something that may happen sooner than later. When speaking to Entertainment Tonight, earlier this year, the country star admitted his relationship with the “Hollaback” singer is “stronger than ever.”

“You know, I gotta say that we couldn’t be happier, and we’ve never been doing better,” he said.

He also referenced a potential engagement, and specifically used the phrase “when it happens” as opposed to “if it happens” which left fans on the edge of their seats. And to top it all off, just this past week, Blake opened up at his album release party at the iHeartRadio Theater in California about the engagement rumors.

“Anybody that thinks I am married to Gwen already, I love it,” he joked. “My God, who wouldn’t want to be married to Gwen Stefani?”
