The Duchess of Cambridge seems so together when it comes to providing her kids with wholesome, engaging hobbies, and her latest revelation is no exception. Apparently, Kate and her kids “really enjoy” cooking together. But unlike the time Kate blew our minds by telling us Princess Charlotte’s favorite food is curry, the family’s favorite food to cook together is a typical kid favorite: homemade pizza.
Prince William and Kate joined Great British Bake-off judge Mary Berry for BBC Christmas special A Very Berry Christmas, which aired Dec. 16. Berry — who was also the inspiration behind one of Prince Louis’s first words, “Mary” — asked Kate on the show whether she cooks with her kids, and the Duchess spared no detail.

“Yes, I really enjoy it,” Kate told Berry, adding that she thinks it teaches her kids to be “creative” and will prepare them to be “as independent as possible.” And Berry plays a special role in their cooking time too.
“Actually, one of the last things we cooked together was your pizza dough,” Kate told the legendary food writer. “We made pizzas with your pizza dough recipe…They loved it. Absolutely loved it.”
It seems like Kate’s in the kitchen as much as she can be — and she revealed in the same special that she stays up “til midnight” making “far too much” cake on her kids’ birthdays every year. “I love making the cake,” she confessed. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing…But I love it.”
William may not be very involved in the kitchen, but he’s getting excited about other holiday traditions. On Monday’s special, the Duke revealed that Christmas shopping for their kids is well underway and that they’re hoping to encourage their children’s other hobbies with the gifts they choose.
“[George] loves his drawing — he’s a very good drawer,” William shared. “We might get him something for drawing. Or football. He is loving his football as well.”
