Channing Tatum & Jessie J Split After Over a Year Together But Remain ‘Good Friends’

Chessie (or maybe Janning?) is no more — Channing Tatum and singer Jessie J have split after more than a year. The former couple initially made romantic headlines back in October 2018 when Tatum, 39, and Jessie, 31, were spotted out and about together. Us Weekly was the first to break the news of the relationship’s end, which has since been confirmed by People as well. Despite their newly broken up status, though, the two are reportedly keeping things friendly.

By the time Tatum and Jessie’s relationship first went public back in 2018, the word on the street was they’d already been dating quietly for a few months. So, it seems somehow fitting that they phased out of their relationship in a similarly subtle fashion. “Channing Tatum and Jessie J broke up about a month ago,” a source told Us Weekly, adding, “They are still really close and still good friends.” A source for People echoed the low-key nature of the split, saying, “There wasn’t any drama. They just decided to part ways and are still good friends.”

So, why did the two decide to go their separate ways? “Channing and Jessie have different priorities and focuses that don’t really align,” another source told People.

Still, says the source, they made the most of their time together. “They had a fun relationship, but it just didn’t work out. Channing needs to be in LA a lot so he can spend time with Everly. Jessie prefers England,” the source said, again reiterating, “They are still friendly, though.”

What little the former couple did share on social media and in interviews seemed positive (some of Tatum’s comments on her social feeds, me-ow). However, Jessie also hinted that being in such a high-profile relationship can be tricky to navigate. “Chan and I got photographed before our relationship was even a thing and that created such pressure,” she told The Times of London.

Tatum and Jessie’s split comes about a month after his divorce from ex-wife Jenna Dewan became finalized.
