Sadly, we have news of more complications in the Presley family. Lisa Marie Presley’s kids were reportedly banned from Elvis’s 85th birthday celebration at Graceland, the singer’s mansion in Memphis, Tennessee now owned by Lisa Marie. Presley’s ex-husband Michael Lockwood has allegedly banned their twin daughters from traveling with their mother for their late grandfather’s celebration, and not even Presley’s legal team could get the courts to reconsider.
Since Presley and Lockwood’s divorce, their 11-year-old twin daughters Harper and Finley Lockwood can’t leave the state without consent from both parents or approval from the court. Naturally, Presley wanted her daughters present at their grandfather’s birthday celebration, but according to The Blast Lockwood explicitly withheld his consent for the twins to travel.

In an attempt to override Lockwood’s decision, Presley filed emergency documents with the Los Angeles County Court requesting that her kids be able to attend the Memphis event. On Wednesday, the court denied Presley’s request, concluding that Elvis’s birthday did not constitute an “emergency.”
Elvis’s birthday party isn’t just a small family affair. It’s a 4-day celebration that welcomes fans from around the world to honor the singer’s legacy, featuring “private tours of Graceland Mansion with Priscilla Presley, a Birthday Celebration Concert featuring Terry Mike Jeffrey and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, fan-favorite concert Elvis: Live in Concert featuring The TCB Band, and much more,” per the Graceland website.
This is not the first time Presley and Lockwood have been at odds about what’s best for their children. The ex-spouses are set for a July 20, 2020 trial to determine custody, visitation, and child support arrangements, after over three years of divorce proceedings so far.
The birthday celebration is now underway at Graceland and will continue until January 11, 2020. No doubt Presley is crushed that all her children can’t be there by her side, but hopefully, Harper and Finley can find a way to celebrate their grandfather’s legacy from home. Here’s hoping to swift resolutions to all the Presley family’s troubles in 2020 and beyond.
