Is Meghan Markle’s BFF Taking Over Royal Nanny Duties While Archie’s Parents Are Away?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry threw us all for a loop with their recent announcement that they’re stepping back from their royal duties — and the royal family was no less shaken up. So, where has baby Archie been while they deal with the fallout? Meghan’s BFF Jessica Mulroney has reportedly been taking care of baby Archie in Canada while his parents are away, but it’s unclear whether Mulroney is shouldering the task alone, or working with a third royal nanny. Here’s what we know.

Meghan and Harry flew to Canada for the holidays, reportedly meeting with Meghan’s close friend Mulroney in Toronto and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland in Vancouver. In early January, the Sussex royals returned to London for an engagement at Canada House, leaving Archie in Canada. Hello!reports that Mulroney has been looking after Archie along with the help of his third royal nanny — whose identity remains unknown.

While Mulroney is a trusted friend of Meghan’s, having helped plan her wedding (and possibly her baby shower as well), it’s unlikely that she was the only one tasked with looking after Archie during Meghan and Harry’s time away. Hello! believes that the nanny currently in Canada is the same one who accompanied the Sussex duo on their trip to Nice this summer.

Meghan and Harry have gone to great lengths to protect their nanny’s privacy, so we can’t say for certain whether or not she’s helping out Mulroney in Canada. After all, does stepping back from the royal family mean stepping back from royal nannies too? If Mulroney is looking after Archie on her own, that’s a huge sign of trust from Meghan — and since Archie may soon be living in Canada half the year, it’s good to know he has caretakers like Mulroney and Ragland around.
