When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (do we still call him that?) decided to step back from their royal duties, we imagine it was tough for Prince William and Kate Middleton not to take it a bit personally. Of course, William and Kate haven’t faced the same scrutiny and criticism that Harry and Meghan have — but it must still be odd to watch your brother and his wife publicly wash their hands of the life you’ve chosen to lead.
At any rate, our hearts leapt when we saw that William and Kate would be taking some time off from their royal duties to spend with their children. Maybe they were inspired by Harry and Meghan! But alas, the real reason is a hair more mundane — though extremely relatable.

As it turns out, Kate and William are taking time off from their royal duties for a perfectly ordinary reason. Next week, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be on their half-term break from Thomas’s Battersea, and the whole family is going away together for a week-long vacation, and some quality family time. According to E! News, The Cambridge couple reportedly takes this break every year to spend time with their children, and this year’s break will occur from February 17 to February 21.
We don’t yet know where Kate, William, and their brood will take this trip, but a strong contender is Anmer Hall, a country house on Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate where the family enjoyed some R&R last December. We’re sure that isn’t Kate and William’s only country house property, though — so stay tuned for which estate they choose to visit.
