Watch Alex Rodriguez & Jennifer Lopez Hilariously Nail ‘Flip the Switch’ TikTok Challenge

Welp, it’s official — Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez’s new Flip challengeTikTok video is the latest in a growing line of proof that adults have infiltrated the short-form video-sharing app. And, in the case of A-Rod and J.Lo, it’s clear that you don’t have to be a teen or early 20-something influencer to create killer content (isn’t that what the kids are calling it these days?) on the platform.

Posting to Twitter just before midnight on Sunday, Rodriguez shared he and his fiancée’s latest contribution, writing, “Late night tik toks @JLo #WaitForIt.” In the clip, Lopez wears a white knit dress belted at the waist and dances in the background as Rodriguez — dressed in khakis, a white button-down, blazer, and aviators — films in the foreground. But as is the gist with these Flip the Switch challenge videos, the scene suddenly does an about-face.

In a split-second frame change, Rodriguez is wearing the white dress and doing a seductive dance as Lopez films while wearing his outfit. By some miracle, they both manage to keep (relatively) straight faces. TBH, it might be our favorite TikTok to date. But also, we’d be lying if we said it didn’t make us a little apprehensive that this is yet another social media platform the rest of us decidedly less cool adults will now have to learn.

Like, send help? TikTok first popped up on my radar because I live with a tween. And if you have a tween or teen, you undoubtedly understand that TikTok is a thing. But no one in our house harbors any illusions that I’ll be pulling off J.Lo and A-Rod-level maneuvers on the meme-acting app anytime soon.

However, other adults out there in the universe clearly are. Courteney Cox routinely rocks it with her teenage daughter Coco. The This Is Us cast — led by the always smooth Sterling K. Brown — knocks down challenges left and right. And the Kardashian-West-Jenner crew has shared a few videos with their younger generations as well.

If I ever go the TikTok route, I’m probably rolling more Reese Witherspoon-style. She famously documented her first foray into the platform by having her son Deacon teach her how to do some viral moves. And, well, the teen was obviously amused by his mom’s so-uncool-she’s-actually-cool maneuvers.

Yeah, that’s more my speed. Is there a TikTok for Dummies yet? If so, I’d like to reserve a copy.
