Calling fanatics of Snapped, Serial and all things true-crime-related! Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are co-producing a new true-crime TV series called Exhumed — the show has been given the green light by none other than Oxygen, a network proven to have a penchant for true-crime programming. And based on what we’ve learned about Exhumed so far, we’re counting down the days until a release date is revealed.
On one hand, this true-crime show feels like a surprising move for wholesome Ripa and Consuelos. Then again, Consuelos has made a name for himself on the decidedly dark CW series Riverdale and Ripa, well, everything she touches turns to gold. Plus, like the rest of us, she’s obsessed with this particular genre. “As diehard true crime fans, we are thrilled to be partnering with Oxygen on Exhumed,” Ripa and Consuelos said in a joint statement released by Oxygen. “We cannot wait to dig into these fascinating cases and showcase how exhumations have been crucial in solving crimes and bringing closures to families across America.”
Serving as co-executive-producers alongside the husband-and-wife duo will be Albert Bianchini, Wendy Greene, and Christopher Sgueglia. But let’s get real: You’re dying (sorry, couldn’t help ourselves) for details about the show’s gist, right? Here’s what we know.

Per Oxygen, each self-contained episode of Exhumed examines a gripping murder case in which unearthing a victim’s body is the key to solving the crime. The show comes at this approach from every angle, offering a 360-degree look at exhumation from the perspective of both the distraught family and the investigators working to solve the case. As is customary with many true crime shows, it will feature stylized re-creations, archival footage and “powerful” interviews with those closest to the cases.
Intrigued? We are, too. And while we don’t want to jinx the show’s success before it even makes it to the small screen, we already have a sort-of spinoff proposal. Ripa and Consuelos will be behind-the-scenes as producers, but we’d love to actually hear their take on these cases. So, our vote? An Exhumed companion podcast hosted by this charismatic (true-crime-loving) Hollywood couple.
