Tiffany Haddish Is Videochatting Her Girls Trip Co-Stars to Plan the Sequel & We’d Like a Livestream, Please

While many major Hollywood productions have stalled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Tiffany Haddish is already looking toward the future with a Girls Trip sequel — even if she’s had to get creative about the planning. Haddish and her co-stars have been planning the Girls Trip sequel over Zoom, and we seriously cannot wait for round two of Haddish, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, and Regina Hall letting loose the way you only really can on a girls’ trip. Haddish stole our hearts with this movie in 2017, and we have no doubt the sequel will be even more side-splitting — the only question is, how can we get in on that videochat?!

Haddish revealed this delightful update to the Huffington Post, sharing how she and her co-stars decided to set out on this project now. Apparently, Universal Pictures had been waiting for a script before moving forward, but once a treatment from original screenwriter Tracy Oliver appeared, objections became murkier.

“Then it was like, ‘Oh, you guys want too much money,’” Haddish explained (not-so-fun fact: she was only paid $80,000 for the first movie, a fraction of she’d make today). So, she, Pinkett Smith, Latifah, and Hall decided to take things into their own hands and had their first Zoom meeting this weekend to work on the story.

And if their brainstorming takes them somewhere else? All the better. “We might decide not to even make it ‘Girls Trip,'” Haddish said. “Maybe we’ll do a different story just in case no one wants to make ‘Girls Trip 2.'”

We’re definitely interested in a Girls Trip — but honestly, anything these ladies cook up is a must-watch.
