Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Reportedly Hire Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s Former Bodyguards

Meghan Markle and Prince Harryare officially no longer senior members of the royal family — this means they no longer have their royal security detail. And now that Meghan and Harry are living in Los Angeles they’re having to think about how best to protect themselves while they embark on this new chapter of their lives and pursue new careers.

The couple reportedly hired former SAS soldiers to replace their Scotland Yard bodyguards, who according to the Daily Mail previously guarded stars including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Madonna, and Nicole Kidman. And since the royal family technically will not be covering the costs for their security who might be footing the bill? Well, apparently Harry’s dad Prince Charles.

A source tells the Daily Mail, “Charles has agreed to pay a ‘private contribution’ to the Sussexes. It will not be revealed how much and what that is used for, but it is believed to be around £2 million. It would not be a surprise if it went into meeting the bill for security. However, the Prince of Wales does not have an infinite amount of money. The total income from the Duchy of Cornwall is annually around £21 million.”

And while they once received British taxpayer dollars covering their round-the-clock security protection Donald Trump has made it clear American dollars would not be covering these costs tweeting, “It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

Thankfully, it seems that while Meghan and Harry are no longer senior working members of the royal family, they are still being treated like family.
